Auto & Car Storage
Automobiles need storage, too. Just as you may want to store RVs, boats, and household items, you may want to consider using indoor or outdoor auto and car storage to store an extra vehicle. Most communities do not like homeowners storing vehicles in their yards. And many HOAs will not allow homeowners to store too many vehicles outside a garage.
You may have a classic or rarely used car that you don’t have room for and don’t want to sell. That is where we can help. At Security Self Storage, we offer a variety of indoor and outdoor auto storage units for your convenience. Contact us today to learn more or visit our Storage Units page for unit size and pricing.
Indoor Auto Storage
Indoor auto & car storage offers several significant benefits:
- Protection from the Elements:
- Shields your vehicle from rain, snow, hail, extreme heat, and cold, preventing damage to paint, tires, and other components.
- Protects against harmful UV radiation from the sun, which can fade paint and damage interiors.
- Keeps your vehicle free from dust, dirt, bird droppings, and other debris that can accumulate outdoors.
- Enhanced Security:
- Provides a secure environment with features like surveillance cameras, gated access, and sometimes even on-site security personnel, significantly reducing the risk of theft or vandalism.
- Preservation of Value:
- By protecting your vehicle from the elements and damage, indoor storage helps maintain its overall condition and resale value.
- Particularly beneficial for classic cars, luxury vehicles, and other high-value vehicles where preserving their original condition is crucial.
- Climate Control (Optional):
- Climate-controlled units maintain a stable temperature and humidity level, further protecting sensitive components and preventing issues like mold or mildew.
Outdoor auto and car storage offers several key benefits:
- This is typically the most budget-friendly option compared to indoor or climate-controlled storage.
- Provides easy drive-up access, making it convenient to load and unload your vehicle.
- Often offers ample space for larger automobiles, cars and vehicles like RVs, boats, and trucks.
However, it’s important to be aware of the potential drawbacks:
- Vehicles are directly exposed to the elements, including sun, rain, snow, and extreme temperatures. This can lead to fading, rust, and other types of damage.
Tips for choosing outdoor auto storage:
- Look for features like perimeter fencing, gated access, and surveillance cameras.
- Use a car cover to minimize sun damage and dust accumulation.

Auto & Car Storage FAQs
- Covered vs. Outdoor Storage.
Covered auto storage will protect your vehicle from the elements. With covered storage, you will not need to worry about the harsh Wisconsin winters. No snow, ice, salt, or wind will damage your vehicle. Outdoor auto storage is a more economical option for those looking to store their vehicle for less. - Do you have units that fit vehicles and other items?
Yes. If you want to store a vehicle and other items, we recommend our 10×25 or 10×30 units. However, the size of the vehicle will determine how much extra you can fit.
